The Cadet Force Centre of the Republic of Latvia activities are aimed at promoting selection of professional service soldiers and public awareness on state defence issues.
The Centre has the following functions:
- youth education on state defence;
- promoting civic consciousness and patriotism among youth;
- providing society with informational resources on state defence issues;
- collaboration with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on state defence issues;
- promoting public understanding on Latvia’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO);
- development of audio visual materials on state security and defence issues, in accordance with NATO Visual Identity Guidelines.
In order to implement the above mentioned functions, the Centre accomplishes the following tasks:
- organizes and provides state defence training for youth;
- in cooperation with local municipalities, organizes informative educational and other activities involving young people from social risk groups;
- publishes a military magazine Tēvijas Sargs (the Guard of Fatherland);
- produces photographic and audio visual materials on state security and defence issues for publishing and broadcasting in mass media;
- publishes various methodical manuals, informative materials and training literature on state defence;
- develops and maintains a database of videos and photos on state defence;
- provides informative services to state and municipal institutions and individuals;
- collaborates with foreign and international institutions in producing audio visual materials on state security and defence issues, in accordance with NATO Visual Identity Guidelines.
